monitoring system using SNMP

Hello,
I am a graduate student and my project is an ATM monitoring system. I will use SNMP protocol to monitor the ATM. I am in the implementation phase and my application is small. So my question is can I send SNMP traps from the agent(ATM) to the server without building MIB? If yes, how I can do this? I need some help here please!
