This is not a matter of php. It is a matter of domain administration and web server.

Are you managing the DNS? Are you managing the web server - and what kind of?

Has the domain a wildcard registration? See: http://ma.tt/2003/10/wildcard-dns-and-sub-domains/

Well, than subdomain handling won't work on lower level.
