Invalid UTF-8 error in android when calling File.listFiles()

I'm trying to get all files recursively from a cifs mount (mounted with CifsManager) and some of the file names have non standard characters. This seems to break the file.listFiles() method horribly and the app seems to go into a loop with no exception.

Can someone shed some light on this situation?

I can provide additional info if need be.
