How to perform addition (+) operation of content in Crystal Reports?

In my project, I am having problems performing addition for the total cost of a whole book present in a Crystal Reports report. Please help.

Solution 1

Crystal is geared to be able to do that for you, if you have the fields of the proper type.

So the initial thing would be to check if the field is a numeric type, or a string.
