Users will register on my site . On completion of register form and all conditions met they will be told by a thank you page that an email activation link has been sent to their email they have provided on the submission.

I want on my thank you page to have a link so that they can click and go their email ,

Is this legal and possible.

I think it's impossible to enable users to go to their email from your page, because some email servers don't have web interface. Others have various web URL that you cannot look up them at all.

No. Many different emails work differently. Gmail is very different than Outlook for example. It's a good idea but it is sufficient to just put up a message indicating to the user that they need to check their email.

Even if you could bring their email window into focus there is no way to ensure they are the ones logged in. After all, the point of you sending them the email is to make sure it is who they say it is.
