Migration from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010

Hello, I searched for a way to migrate a whole SharePoint 2007 project with Lists, sites, workflows and applications to a newer and clean server with SharePoint 2010. But all I found was ways I could Upgrade, or tools which migrate for you. I want to weight my options very well since I don't want to ask money from the company for those Migration Tools. Is there a way I can migrate everything myself, and how?

I'm sorry if this question has been asked or explained before, might have missed it. Please and Thank you.
