I find it useful to look on Amazon and then read the reviews.

Without knowing what your current level of understanding, and hands-on experience programming, with C# is, I could not recommend a specific book.

If you are an advanced C# practitioner, and want to focus on what is new in C# >= 4.5, that's one thing.

If you are a beginner, in C#, but have substantial experience working in other languages, understand, and are able to use concepts and practices like algorithms, design patterns, SQL, OOP, MVC, etc.: that's another very different scenario.

So, please share more about what you studied, and done, so far, and what your goals are.

Is your target specifically WinForms, WPF, ASP.NET, using C#, or are you seeking to achieve a wide competency in C# as a programming language ?

good luck, Bill

My recommendation for beginners is Programming Microsoft Windows with C# by Charles Petzold[^]
