how to communicate with rs485 serial port

i have done a communication with rs232 serial port using rxtxcomm.jar but it sending data only to rs232 i want to send data to rs485 thanks for any help...

Solution 1

Communication on RS485 is physically different from the RS232 one, that is you need a different adapter (e.g. USB dongle) on the PC side. That said, such difference has almost no impact on the application software: you basically deal with the same virtual serial port you did before.
