Where or how do I get database engine for MySQL 5.0 database?

Please where or how do I get a database engine for MySQL 5.0 database. I did not even know until a few seconds ago that the MySQL database requires an engine.All I did is run the .msi executable and installed it.

By .msi executable do you mean the MySQL install from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/installer/[^]
