how to remove vertical scroll bar and add horizontal scroll bar in dropdown list

when there is 30 dropdown list items i would like to display 15 ,15 list items to be displayed side by side by adding horizontal scrool bar and remove vertical scroll bar in my dropdown list box .. how can i do this plese help me...
