How to refresh the child window from an event in parent window?

I have two windows named Window1 and Window2. When an event is triggered in Window1, Window2 should appear and display something. Then when the same event is triggered in Window1, the currently opened instance of Window2 should refresh itself instead of opening a new instance of Window2. I am working on c#.net wpf using VS 2012
