Sending message remotely without port forwarding

Just a quick question,

Is it possible to send a message using a TCPClient to another computer running a server on another network without port forwarding it? Or should I use a HTTP server to act as the gateway between both computers (like TeamViewer does with screen sharing)?

The reason is so you don't have to access the router settings.
