MYSQL Exception handled database disconnected

I have a database server and i remotely connected to it. Some times net down then exception raised MySQL exception not handle database couldnot be found.
I handled it in try catch of MYSQLException i want when database disconnected it locate for connection until it connect as like in skype it tries or tries
Any idea?

as far as I understand you try to keep a connection open as long as your application runs. this is not a good approach. open a connection when only you need it.
