Error in Sql server 2005 management studio

hi all
when i connect my sql client to sql server through named pips it will give error shown below

"Microsoft SQL Server ODBC Driver Version 03.85.1117

Running connectivity tests...

Attempting connection
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Named Pipes]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

TESTS FAILED!"

any solution for this error
