text mode not enabling

sir, Iam sending the same command AT+CMGF=? It is giving the response (0,1). and it is taking AT+CMGF=1 AND RESPONDING WITH OK. But it is not showing the sms in text format and Iam unable to send also. "" we are using P300U EDGE/GPRS MODEM. along with that modem they provided the application s/w . in that s/w WE ARE ABLE TO SEND THE SMS FROM an EDGE FEATURED airtel simcard. BUT NOT FROM GENERAL SIMCARD

WHEN WE ACCESS THAT SAME EDGE FEATURED SIM CARD FROM HYPERTERMINAL, UNABLE TO READ AND SEND SMS. WHAT COULD BE THE REASON , WHAT IS THE SOLUTION
