Problem with make simple player

Hi i want to make a player and i don't have any information about how audio and videos playing in computer and i want with make one simple player make a little information for myself
and my problem is:
for example when you want to open the picture you open it on pictureBox but i don't know where videos should play? (i hope i could tell clearly)
and if anyone have some information about videos and audios how they playing in computer please tell me to know it (i don't want information in another site because i m going to read them later, i want to know people experience about it)

First of all, not on PictureBox anyway. This would be the worst of all possible ideas.

it was just example for picture to i tell what i want and i said i don't know it for video and audio, which object can show videos and audios
