How can I develop my own xmpp server?

I am developing chat application. all the records comes from web services to desktop application. I searched from net about xmpp I downloaded ejabberd server and matrix source code for chat. working good. but how can i developed my own ejabberd server. I searched more on net but I see demo for openfire and ejabberd but not getting right answer, Please help here. thanks in advanced.

You're asking a pretty broad question that isn't terribly meaningful to those who don't know your requirements.

The biggest an most pertinent question it: What kind of functionality are you looking for that isn't currently in place, and could you develop a plugin to accomplish this instead?

I did not develop plugin. I just searched from net and download ejabberd server. and matrix sdk. it working good. But am not getting after searched on net that how to build our chat server or how to use ejabberd plugin?

You didn't read what I asked. I'll break it down into logical steps:
1. You have an XMPP chat server now
2. You have a client of choice that works.
3. What problem would coding your own version of the server solve?

I got your question.I'm newly for chat application. so I'm getting confusion. what should I develop our chat server for our application. if yes then how? I tried ejabberd chat server that is downloaded from net, okey, I want to develop this type of chat server by my own for my own application.
