How to use connected component labeling. Can u help me?

I am working on license plate detection.I did vertical & horizontal projection on same. Now i wanted to use connected component labeling on that.Can u help me? Or is there any other way?

Sorry, not clear. Do want to perform OCR on the license plate? Why connected component labeling? What is the ultimate goal and what's the problem?

Assuming you really need OCR, I would recommend to start here: http://www.mathworks.com/help/vision/examples/recognize-text-using-optical-character-recognition-ocr.html[^].

If by "license plate detection" you mean something different, not reading the license ID from the plate, please explain.
