Hi,
I have index.SHTML ,i want my SHTML file to be displayed when a user type www.abcd.com in the url..

You need to let IIS know that it is okay to do this. Open the Internet Information Services app, select your web site and right-click Properties. Then click the Documents tab and add index.shtml to the list. This should now be the default document.

2 things:

Must it be called index.shtml? Why not call it index.html or default.html?

If this is being called form a web host you may not have access to the IIS control panel app so may be forced to change the name of the file.
