I have a ASUS eebox that is not behaving when starting up... so I created a script that when the computer starts up it will restart, and I can continue this operation the whole day to test the computer....Stupid me... didn't think about how I am going to stop this from happening... So now I have a misbehaving computer that will not stay on... So... This computer cannot be brought into safe mode because the only output is HDMI and HDMI does not get updated until it hits Windows....There is no CD drive so I cannot throw in a linux disc and see the HD, I cannot crack open this computer and get to the hard drive to change the registry because the HD is sealed in the computer... and the operation happens to fast to open a console window, to type a command such as...

What is the OS? Where is the script running?

Since you mentioned safe mode, I'm assuming you are running Windows.

Power the computer and Hold on F8 key. this will bring the boot selection menu. In the list should be safe mode.

If your script is in your startup folder, then as soon as windows starts to load, hold SHIFT key. Keep holding it until windows loads. The Shift key bypasses startup folder entries from loading.

OS
Windows XP

Script is running as a startup item in XP

I do power up the computer with f8, I cannot see the screen, but I do know a screen shows up, because it does not continue the boot process... I have tried hitting multiple combinations of down and enter to select safe mode and each time it seems to only boot normally

Shift key sounds like a great idea... i will try it a few more times but the first try didnt work

I dont see an image on the screen until i Get to the "windows is starting screen"

You say hold shift as soon as windows starts, does this mean the computer starts or windows?
