It doesn't work via asp.net as the server (where your code runs) can't access client hardware (where the device is plugged in). If the device does not come with suitable browser plug-ins etc then find one that is designed to be website enabled.

Solution 1

You should talk to the people who created the reader - they should provide technical support and will know more about their product than we will. If they don't, then find another supplier and demand your money back!
