The future of Visual C++

Sent in by an anonymous reader: "Early last year, Mike Blaszczak, Christian Beaumont, and Jim Springfield all left the Visual C++ group. Mike of course was the face of MFC, Christian and Jim were the ATL guys. The baton has now been passed to a new group people. It could be that these guys got tired of what they were doing, but it seems to me that Microsoft really has lost interest in VC++ enhancements, and moved their "best and brightest" onto new projects." I've looked everywhere for information on this but there does not seem to be a lot of talk about it. Is it all merely rumor and conjecture? Are Visual C++ and MFC's days numbered, or will new blood infuse the VC++ team with new focus and energy? A recent poll at CodeProject indicated that only 25% of respsondants thought MFC would continue to grow, whereas over 36% thought it would dwindle, or infact had no place in the new Windows DNA World. What do you think?
