Currently we use a unidirectional program that sends data (in files) via ftp. (with ACK's and NACK's) The client wants it fully bidirectional now. I was thinking Webservices on both cpu's. What other options are there and what are the (dis)advantages? (there is upon this point no requirement of a user interface) Any good links, tutorials, ideas I can look into? Thanks a lot... If you're simply transferring files how about just writing a simple FTP server which can sit at the client / server side of things, this is similar to the previous comment but at least you'll have a well-defined protocol to go by. I'm not sure about webservices, they may be the way to go, but if you're only transferring files then you've already got the best solution (at least unidirection anyway) because FTP => File Transfer Protocol.  Just my thoughts. Try googling "C# FTP Server" and the first few results may be helpful to you. Of course you could simply write your own "protocol" to do exactly what you want, this might take a bit longer but will ultimately be more powerful.  It may also be worth a look into TelNet since I think you can send files using that, plus it has has command-like features. Google it. If that fails then start a dance. You have to derive your ToolStripWhatever from ToolStripControlHost, and pass your control to the base constructor. Then use OnSubscribeControlEvents and OnUnsubscribeControlEvents to subscribe/unsuscribe to events. If you are really looking for a combo box (and it was not just an example) for your toolstrip, it exists already: ToolStripComboBox[^]. I hope this helps! Most installation software lets you create registry keys. You've not told us what you're using for an installer. Then your program can read the registry, how to do that is well documented. The typical way is the create an image attributues class, specify a transparency range and use it in the call to DrawImage. Rob Philpott25-Sep-06 1:32 Rob Philpott 25-Sep-06 1:32  I'm not sure you want to do that! That is going to be one very busy thread, continually updating the time when it doesn't need to. At the very least you could add a Thread.Sleep(1000) in there to rest the thread for a second between updates, although why you'd do this rather than use a timer escapes me. Not to mention that you should *never* update the GUI from anything apart from the thread which created it (and in VS2005 it will explicitly block you from doing so). You'd need a call to BeginInvoke to make this solution acceptable. Regards, Rob Philpott. And am using OpenFileDialog, when clicked on My Computer (from left wokspace) it is not showing the Drives available.
