Well, we figured that it is the firewall. When ever user types REPALCE, FIND, or any word that is also a command in firewall, along with any special character like single quote, semi-colon, or double quote. The firwall take it as command injection and block it. It looks weired. Our firewall guys do not want to disable command injection. They said that we might have to use the SSL on the server. I don't know how correct is that. But on SSL enabled server it works fine.
Its definitely not how the browser displays the error. It is the firewall because the firewall does not let me catch any error.

What kind of firewall is that? What is the purpose of blocking traffic like that? The firewall can't be access directly with an unauthorised request, can it? Is the protection (?) something that the "firewall guys" have come up with themselves?

Hi.,
I am trying to send dataset to Webservice but if my dataset table have more than 3000 rows then it send SoapException.Exception is about Content-length. How can I send Dataset with Table having 100000 records

A request is limited to 4 MB by default. You have to change the settings in web.config on the site hosting the web service, so that it can accept larger requests.
Also, sending it as a data table means that there will be a lot of overhead in the serialising. An array of custom objects should reduce the size of the request.
Another alternative would be to serialise the data yourself using a BinaryWriter and then encode it using base64.
Why are you sending so much data to a web service anyway?

Hi.,
I am having two servers on server-1 there is my Applicaton that copies the data from MS Access, creates the dataset and provide to the Webservice .On server-2 there is my webservice which accept the dataset and using sqlBulkCopy Fill Data into SQL Server. so problem is that all the tables having nearly 3000 records are successfully loaded , but the tables with more records are throwing exceptions. This is where I am getting the problem.

Yea! I have set the maxRequestLength ="2097150" now the data is flowing across and all is fine , only concern is speed so I am trying to compress and decompress at respective ends.

Hello, I hope this is the right place to post, but anyways, here goes. I current have a forum, snitz, in place, but am having an IE specific problem. Basically what happens is, I have a page that drops a cookie which logs in the user. This all works fine, but once the cookie is dropped ALL post method data from forms become empty. Get works, and if I post data to a different site it works, so the break down is reading the data from the post. Here is the code that logs the user into the site:

All the previous code does is create the cookies. The variables are declared on one of the included pages. Once this code is executed, nothing works. I have created a simple asp page that just reads posted data which does not work once I use the above page:

Before I log in, the above code will echo everything in the box, but after I log in, it receives nothing. I have tested this log in feature on firefox, and it works fine, but on ie, it just refuses to work. Hopefully someone can shed some insight onto this, because I've been at this for 2 days, and have made no progress.

If your code works in FF then your problem is most likely to do with your security/privacy settings in IE. AFter all, the server-side code runs on the server (really!) and doesn't care what browser is making the call.

Hey Fred,
Thanks for the response! That was exactly the problem. I am using NT Authentication on only one page, while all the other pages are public access. Initially, I thought it was my code, but after looking at everything carefully, I realized that it was something to do with the authentication. If you could shed some insight as to why this would happen, it would greatly be appreciated. The current setup is a public viewalbe URL with one file using NT Authentication (hopefully that makes sense).

i am having a webpage (developed in asp using vbscript) in it i have one hyperlink button when i click on that button file starts downloading from my system with that file name.its working fine, but now i want to download the file from another system which is connected to my system(say MS01 is another system name ) through LAN. can anybody send me the source code for this task.

i am unable to add horizontal scroll bar to HTML select tag using the div tag......that's the only thing i could find over the internet.....and that too is not working.....!!!

i've tried both overflow scroll and auto and seperately for overflow-x & overflow-y
the vertical scroll bar comes but not the horizontal.
when i use overflow:scroll the tips of the scroll bar appear but there is no bar to scroll

hey buddy.....i probably figured out the problem.......but need a workaround....
in the stylesheet i'm using....there is an entry....

if i delete the width row the the scrollbar appears....!!!
but the problem is i do not wish to change the style sheet as it is related to other pages also.....so how can i override it for this particular case...i would also appreciate if anyone could throw light on why the scrollbar was not appearing previously....

However, I think as you're defining a style for a top-level tag, you may have to set the width to something as you can't disable the style, only override it, so if you don't add a width attribute, the one from the SELECT style will continue to be applied.
The scroll bar is not appearing as, as far as it's concerned, the elements within the div are set at 100% and therefore there's nothing to scroll.

The following gives me a scroll bar under the drop down - is this what you're looking for or am I misunderstanding?

this is working fine for a normal case......but in my case.....the select list is being displayed in a table column.....and the style sheet problem that i've already described.
i've found out one more thing......if i override the width in select and the width is greater than that of the div tag.....then the horizontal scrollbar appears......but again i do not know what value i should put for width in select so that the longest string in select list is visible.
if i put width as 100% then also the scrollbar disappears......because i think that 100% takes the width as 100% of the table column....and does not scroll.....
one more thing.....the select list is not being displayed as one value at a time......it is in a rectangular format.....the vertical bar automatically appears if total options exceed the height....by virtue of select tag.......but the horizontal bar doesn't appear.....
