C# on cross-platform, I only like, prefer and recommend Mono Project. Xamarin is costly.
Microsoft took a great leap to acquire it, and I believe the free tools would be worth clicking, "Continue" a few times. 
And... Windows 10 works fine for me too. Other than a few things, like a hundred of them. Other than that, it starts quick, just takes a few 30 seconds, or 1 minute in worst cases. Other than that, it works great man.

Win10 works for me. However, I prefer separate Android Studio now.
I know Eclipse for Android wasn't great for numerous reasons : why were projects so hard to open from another machine?
Android Studio is very nice and I like dev in Google APIs for the most part.
However, I also understand it would be VERY NICE if you could write once and build both iOS and Android.
The dream is still a dream I fear. Even with xamarin.

It runs from my flash drive when I plug it into the 3.5" floppy drive.

I've got Android Studio as well and have used it a little. I'm trying both to see which one works best. Points for AS since it doesn't puke on breakpoints/debug!

Gradle (AS) has annoyed me some but not near as much as all of the odd problems I experienced with Eclipse.
Eclipse was absolutely annoying when I tried to take a project from one computer to another. So often I would try that and Eclipse on the other machine would never open the project. I don't get that. I thought that was basic functionality for an IDE (being able to open the project from anywhere). oh well.

Interesting. I can set breakpoints and step in/out of code without any problems. What I'm not able to do is "Set Next Statement" - that options appears to be disabled. Other than that, no problems at all.

And "start out in QA" so I could eventually "move up" to a junior developer position? I've been a programmer for over 35 f*ckin years, and currently command six-figure salaries. Do you think your customer would be willing to pay me that much money just for doing Q/A? This email is a f*ckin insult, and if I were standing in front of you right now, I'd punch you in the mouth for even suggesting this position.

Some places require a "team player" mentality and "works well with others" for their development team, especially those with open workspace. I would suggest working on those attirubte to attract a better proposition.
