These seem to be the opinions of musicians who while they have a genuine interest in Gibson are not business people. The worldwide sales of Gibson and Fender guitars are under pressure from cheaper alternatives (often unashamed copies). The actions of the executives could have been genuine albeit misguided measures to bolster the company and save the brand. No company can rest on it's laurels, it is either growing or declining. Gibson appears to have some good chance of survival but many iconic brands have succumbed. This is often due to unfair competition in the form of blatant theft of intellectual property.

Real Gibson guitars are expected to be expensive in the world of musicians.
That's the way it is.
When (and if) you sell them, you will get good money for them.
That's not the case for the copies.

The problem with damned good products is they are, well, damned good. I'm using my Garmin Forerunner 310XT since 2012. It doesn't break.

It seems to me that it was a more dramatic version of what happened to Fender when CBS had its hold over them, 'you make guitars out of wood, you have a furniture factory' and it went down hill from there, you have to wonder if the older crafts men at Legend who were in the old Gibson factory before it moved, kept going might take back the name. Gibson didn't have the same foot print Fender did in amplifiers and pedals. I have seen a Gibson amp from the 70's but it was not great. Did Gibson see then Fender example and try to copy it?

Semi-related note- among my dad's five guitars, there is a 1956 Gibson J-45 Sunburst acoustic. When he passed away, he stipulated that his wife would put the guitar names in a hat and all five of us kids would get to pick from the hat. This event has not yet occurred. But I hope I'm the one that draws the Gibson. I fear that my brother and sisters would immediately sell it - it's worth at least $5k.

That's not a bookend. That's Pete writing his latest article on the Surface Pro. If you look closely at his hands you can see him making the MVVM sign. He's probably saying "Use the MVVM"

Is anyone watching the MSbuild with the paired programming example where the two devs are looking at the code remotely and editing it with each other and running?
Does anyone want to do that? More than once in a lifetime, maybe? \

I have not tried it. But I have seen it work quite fine when the two devs are equally strong, and are generally in synch.
But two random devs paired? I have my doubts.

I'm kidding, but I'm really, really serious.
Code is often very opinionated. And opinionated code can be very good. If the dev is good.
And there are many different ways to do the same thing which are neither better nor worse.
What I think it would lead to -- as I've seen -- is one dev basically saying, "ok we do it this way"
and the other dev just nodding and going along.*
EDIT*
And I'm not opposed to using this for code review, code explanation, etc.
And I'm not against it as a design review, etc.
I'm just saying, live coding/typing, no thanks.

His was parsing everything into a string and yes that is faster than DOM parsing. In that case he would've been the Master-Pair-Programmer had I ever had to be paired with him.
