Hi Guys,
I have setup up a clean XP-VMaware player and created a SQL Database there,so now I want to connect to that database in my local pc how ever when I try and ping the vm address in my local pc it says request time out.
I also went to check VM setting and I selected Host-Only infact I have tried all the settings and both fire walls are off.
Can one connect to the VM with out network cable?
Please help soonest.

It can be a lot of things giving you the problem.

Two possible solutions:

¿What kind of IP address was the VM configured?
It might works with a Dynamic IP Address. You must know, that in a HostOnly connection, the VMware Player creates a new Network to connect to the Host Machine. Then, you can access it by Name.

An other thing that should be happen, is that you haven't a network card connected. In some machines, when there aren't a network card connected, the physical Network services may be stopped and the virtual networks can't start. in this case, you may try to start your WiFi card and create an Ad-Hoc connection, or plug your Network card to a switch.
