Can any one say how to install sqlserver 2008 in windows 7.
At the time of clicking run button it give the following msg.

This Program has known compatibility issues

help me Plz. thanking u.

Solution 1

There are several possible reasons. First thing you could try is to install 64 bit version if you tried 32 bit.

Other things to check:
- disable antivirus if present
- remember to enable .Net framework from windows components
- run the setup using administrative privileges

So let me get this clear you tried installing 64 bit version and you disabled antivirus, correct?

If you're wondering about .Net framework, go to Control Panel, select Programs, select Turn Windows features On or off, check the Framework 3.5.1

sorry, i am asking run the setup administrative privileges

Right click on the setup and select "Run as Administrator".

i just follow the following link

but it its now show "net user administrator /active:yes" in command promt.
if i type it asking username and password.
my sys having one user.

You don't have to activate administrator user account. Simply if your current user has enough privileges, use it but start the setup program with administrative privileges. Typically Windows 7 should ask if the permissions are required to elevate but elevating the privileges from the beginning doesn't harm if you trust the setup application.

Which version did you try 32-bit or 64-bit? Also what edition you're installing, Express, Std, Enterprise?

You're having Windows 7 64-bit, but what version did you try for SQL Server. If you haven't already tried 64 bit version, pleas do: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=58ce885d-508b-45c8-9fd3-118edd8e6fff

And select the SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe
