Door access control hardware without 3rd party software

I'm looking at physical installations of a door access control system but want to integrate it into a membership database. I'm a programmer mainly based in C# but also have experience in Swift, Angular, JS etc.

Is it possible to buy a generic door magnet, controller, power supply etc and create an api for use with these?

I have no idea at the minute how to approach this.

What I have tried:

Looked at HID, Raspberry PI etc.

But you should realize :
This part is only Hardware. To make it work you also need a matching Power Supply, the Installation and from your PI an Output which switches it. This Output must be able to deliver the needed Current.
Last not least someone must do the Installation for you ... and this one should know what he is doing there ...
