I was using sql 2008 with Vista Basic with no problems.But after a few updates from OS now I am unable to login to Sql 2008 showing me error mesaage "...(Provider:Names pipe provider,error:40..Could not open a connection to Sql server 2008" instead of log in.How can I get rid of this problem ?Can anyone help me please?

Most basic reason could be surface area configuration. Though follow the link below for all possible reasons and how to resolve it:
