I need some help or insight into tts

I have a tts program that switches voice based on code in the text. However when it reads words with an apostrophe in it such as wouldn't or wasn't or can't it speaks the apostrophe as 'question mark"

Is this a program issue, tts issue or text issue?

Sorry but the method is my secret so I can't post the code.

I am using vb2008 and sapi 5.3 with cepstral voices.

If the method is secret and you can't post the code, you don't give us anything we can use to help you diagnose the problem.

It's like taking your car to the garage, but locking it in a room, forbidding the mechanics to go in there and expecting them to fix it by guessing and shouting instructions through the keyhole!
