how to change visual studio 2010 web application project to visual studio 2012 project. please anybody help me

Just open with VS2012 and see.

Not a good idea to hardcode settings.

I would like to re-create the project, then import the previous files. This way, Visual Studio would let me know if I need to make any changes.

you can try this way

convert the solution file to change the line containing '# Visual Studio 2010' to '# Visual Studio 2012' in the .SLN file

can u please share any example
If you open VS2010 project in VS2012 it will automatically do it using a wizard.

But if your planning to upgrade .NET version I suggest you Research in google as up-gradation varies from project to project.
