I try to connect my website via ftp. I succeed connect the folders by my browser, but in visual studion 2012 I can connect the site just by the local address(10.100.101.100)and not by the remote address. I get this error when I try to connect in remote address: "unable to retrieve folder information from the servrer. can't connect to '(the remote ip addres)' on port 21. Check the server name and proxy settings. If the settengis are correct, the server may be temporarily unavailable."

Such things depends on a number of factors which are defined by how the server configurations are prescribed for your site. If you use some Web hosting company, you usually have limited access to it, only through some control panel (Plesk, cPanel and the like). Besides, some features are limited, depending on what hosting package you are subscribed to. So, only you hosting provider can resolve all the issues. You have to contact its technical support.

In case you self-host your Web site (relatively rare situation, but I did that, too), you will have to dig into the settings of your FTP and/or HTTP server. If you face problems with that, you would have to ask more specific question providing all the detail of your environment and current settings.

Hi,
I realy self-host my Web site. and here are the deatails:
I use windows 8 with iis 8.
I enabled basic authentification and disabled anonymous authentification.
all the relevant ports (1024-65535) are open in inbound and outbound rule in firewall. I also opened port 21 in my router.

I don't know if that's all or not. You also can checkup your HTTP/FTP server settings, whatever it is.
