I am writing a program which uses the axwebbrowser tool in Visual Basic. Does anyone know how to implement a "find" command which highlights the found string in the browser?

Hi,

I would like to use the new AutoComplete feature supported in .net 2.0. I use it with a custom source, means I build my own suggestion string list for autocompletion mechanism. The goal should be that the textbox remembers all text that passed the validation mechanism for future use within the application session. Just in case the user has to reenter the same text again and again.

If I try to add the validted text to the custom source in an event like Validated or Leave, I can't tab out of the control. I have to hit the tab key twice to move out. It seems like I break the autocomplete mechanism by adding strings during the tab out process.

Have anybody found a way to use the AutoComplete feature in .net 2.0 in that manner I described above without any tab key issues?

Is framework good solution or bad...

Framework2 have 20mb how big will be 3,4,5,6

i dont know where this takes...

wouldnt it be bather that the microsoft build up new windows that will be free Smile | :)

and that will have all new futures in it?

My application has 3mb if i want to move it on to internet i have to build setup program and have framework2 setup in it... so my app is now 23mb.

the users will not go to internet and download framework just becose my app...
i need to have it in my app setup.

To Microsoft: lol you need to think on other people two!!!

Yeah, but even in the "old days", you had loads of DLLs to cover. I remember that I had to download a s***load of DLLs just to get a 20KB VB-Application to run.

Then, when I installed another app, I had to get some dozen Borland DLLs. Or VC DLLs.

Additionally, all further Service Packs are gonna install the .NET Framework in the most recent version.

Yeah, if you happen to be developing a .NET2-App right now, you will have to either tell the user to install the Framework first, or redistribute it with your app.

The same is true for many applications who use other libraries or tools.

You do not really have a point there Smile | :)

ya buth didn't microsoft push it to much?
its all ok in america and other countries buth croatia... and other poor countries? Man we have modems, no money to get adsl or something like that what user with modem will go to download 20MB of framework just to run your app, if other apps works great without framework... I think that microsoft have to do something! maybe free line that conects to microsoft for 1$ a day or something and you can dll what you need from microsoft... he should do something about it...

Well here in Slovenia pretty much everybody has a cable or ADSL internet now...
And it really isn't that expensive...

Anways, I am prettty shure computer magazines include the .NET framework on their CDs/DVDs

And vista will have .NET included by default as far as I know...

i have a datatable that has to be binded to a datagrid which is filled from the database.
the datatable returned contains the fields {id, name}

but i'd like to insert a checkbox column and an image column to be binded with the datagrid.
so i'll have {checkbox, id, name, image}

so how can i do that in a simple way

I am trying to run this VB.Net(client) application from a different server, it gives me the error
Additional information: Request for the permission of type System.Security.Permissions.EnvironmentPermission failed in .Net 2.0

I think it is more .Net issue and not VB.net. Can anyone please help me?

std::cout Messes Up Filter in OpenFileDialog

Does anybody else experience the following behavior?

When I comment out the line std::cout << 0; in f(), everything works fine. However, if I uncomment the line, then when I change the filter in the OpenFileDialog, all the files in the list disappear.

This is using Visual C++ .NET 2003 (Managed Extensions to C++, not C++/CLI).

I created a new Visual C++ Windows Forms Application (.NET).
I added a button to this form.

I added an event handler for this button that consists of the following:

OpenFileDialog* dlg = new OpenFileDialog;<br />
dlg->Filter = "Text Files (*.txt)|*.txt|All Files (*.*)|*.*";<br />
dlg->ShowDialog();

I added a native C++ file that consists of the following:

#include <iostream>

void f()
{
    // Comment the following line to get correct behavior
    std::cout << 0;
}

I turned off Precompiled Headers for the project. (not essential, otherwise you need to add #include "stdafx.h" to the native file).
Compile and run (click the button then change the file filter).

Note that nowhere in the program did I actually call the function f(). It seems that its mere existence in the project is enough to mess this up.

Hmm, OK something is really weird now. I sent the code to a colleague of mine and the issue does not appear on his machine. I even sent him both versions of the executable, and neither version shows the bug on his machine, though the exact same exe's do show the bug on mine.

Ah. Not calling base.OnRenderToolStripBorder(e) in the custom ToolStripRenderer seems to get rid of that nasty bordery aftertaste.

Embedding a control in IE

I created a user control in C# that I'd like to display in IE. I also did create a virtual directory on my local host. It works fine on one machine, but I can't get the control to show up on 3 other machines. They just show a placeholder box for the control.
Here is html that I am using:

Create an XmlDocument object and load the xml file into it. Add nodes to it and save it.

You have all the documentation at MSDN Library[^]. Search for "XmlDocument class".

The DocumentElement property is a collection of XmlNode objects that is the nodes in the root element. You can use the CreateNode method to create a node, then add it to the collection.
