I have just added a spare 200GB hard disk to a computer and disk administrator is telling me that there is a "6Gb NTFS Healthy (EISA Configuration)" partition on it. Google has informed me that it is an OEM partition, probably a recovery application from a system I took apart long ago and the partition is simply not needed any more.
However, I am unable to delete, repartition, format or do anything at all with this partition. Is there any way to delete the partitition so I can reallocate the disk correctly?
Here are some screen shots:

Never mind, I removed the partition by booting from CD and deleting it with the Windows Installation.

Ultimate Boot CD
Emergency Boot CD
Knoppix Live CD (or most Knoppix-based live cds)
Start any of these CDs and
UBCD/EBCD: try cfdisk or fdisk
Knoppix: try QtPartEd
Additionally, any Linux-Boot- or -Rescue-Cd should have a partitioner.
Any of those _usually_ are able to delete any partition.
Once the partition is deleted, use Windows or any of the tools mentioned above to create the new partitions to your liking.

You might need to import foreign disk. Read this article[^] for more detail.

If there is no Kernel and no Shell the coding goes something like this
public void main()<br />
{<br />
return null;<br />
}
If there is no kernel and no shell how do you interact with the system? The definition for an OS without a kernel or shell is firmware - but even this has a kernel - why do you want this?

Why don't you check out which post you're replying to before hitting the "Post message" button...

kernel is Core of an OS, without it, there isn't any OS. What do you mean without a shell?
ps: Why do you search such thing? If you want to replace your krnel, then you can use Linux.

Hello!
I have some headache of testing my asp. based web pages in my local computer because of emailing is requiring a server. Is there a way to set up a simultaneous server (I send emails to myself) for testing purposes without getting connected to internet.
If there is a way to do that please let me know!
Thanks!

Do you have autohide enabled? You can check by hovering your mouse cursor a few pixels from the bottom of the screen. IF so it'll pop up after a few seconds.

To get your taskbar back, close all Windows Explorer windows, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete (for the Task Manager), go to the Applications tab, press New Task, type "explorer", and press OK. (The Win+R shortcut for the Run dialog may work as well, but I don't remember for sure.) As to why it disappears, I don't know - but perhaps you should use ShellExView[^] to look for any shell extensions that may be causing Explorer to crash. The best way to find out which one is the cause is to disable all non-MS extensions, and then add them in one-by-one.

I am absolutly joining with you. I think your explorer.exe is corrupted / replaced by some other funny programs or/ viruses. Please do the following steps
1. Go to Folder options in My computer.
2. Click View TAB
3. Unchech the option Hide windows protected files.
4. Goto %Systemroot%/Windows/System32/DLLCACHE
5. Copy the file explorer.exe and paste in %Systemroot%\Windows
6. Overwrite the file explorer.exe
Do the steps carefully and restore the system settings manually
Cheers

Try the Microsoft Help Centre before even attempting to mess with explorer.exe!
Are you sure it isn't on autohide.

Do I have this right?
-WinFX (Vista) replaces Win32
-WPF (Vista) replaces the GDI
-Forms (Vista) replaces MFC
Thanks in advance!

hey, i don't know for the other, but AFAIK, Widows Forms is a .NET feature, so how could it replace MFC ?
|
|
|
|
|
Because you can use MFC in .NET. But it seems to me that any new development in the .NET framework would use Forms instead. Does that make sense?

robasmith wrote: -WinFX (Vista) replaces Win32
No. Vista is, at the very least, a set of extensions to Win32.
robasmith wrote: -WPF (Vista) replaces the GDI
Hardly. WPF is set of API's that supports a richer user experience. GDI and GDI+ aren't being replaced by WPF. Not yet anyway.
robasmith wrote: -Forms (Vista) replaces MFC
Nope. Windows Forms is to the .NET Framework what MFC is to writing Windows applications in Visual C++. A set of standard classes and interfaces to ease the creation of a consistent user experience from application to application.
