My system(ist16) and remote system(ist14) are connected in LAN.
when i type ping ist14 in my system i get replay.
when i type ping ist16 in remote system i didnt get replay.
what is the reason.
can any one help me....?

Check the below information:
- Check an ip address of the system that you ping from whether it has a difference network id.
- Check your system ist16 whether it configure to use IPSec or not.

I am assuming that you are talking about 2 machines on the same LAN?
if so..
if you try to ping the IP address rather than name does it work?
if not then it sounds like a DNS issue.

Your system probably has Windows Firewall enabled and you haven't enabled the File and Printer Sharing exception. The default settings for XP SP2 is to turn ON the software firewall. The default setting for the firewall is to disable ICMP Echo request processing.
Windows file sharing relies at some point on ICMP Echo (ping). Therefore enabling the File and Printer Sharing exception, or anything else that opens TCP port 445, enables ICMP Echo.
If you have an Active Directory domain, you can use Group Policy to enable port 445 on all your workstations. I've done this to allow remote administration, but it's risky: some attacks spread using Windows file sharing.

I am using Windows 2003 server, when W3wp.exe dialog box appears it stops the some services, after clicking on OK button it works fine. Can anyone knows how to close w3wp.exe dialog Box programmatically.

I have just added a spare 200GB hard disk to a computer and disk administrator is telling me that there is a "6Gb NTFS Healthy (EISA Configuration)" partition on it. Google has informed me that it is an OEM partition, probably a recovery application from a system I took apart long ago and the partition is simply not needed any more.
However, I am unable to delete, repartition, format or do anything at all with this partition. Is there any way to delete the partitition so I can reallocate the disk correctly?

Never mind, I removed the partition by booting from CD and deleting it with the Windows Installation.

Ultimate Boot CD
Emergency Boot CD
Knoppix Live CD (or most Knoppix-based live cds)
Start any of these CDs and
UBCD/EBCD: try cfdisk or fdisk
Knoppix: try QtPartEd
Additionally, any Linux-Boot- or -Rescue-Cd should have a partitioner.
Any of those _usually_ are able to delete any partition.
Once the partition is deleted, use Windows or any of the tools mentioned above to create the new partitions to your liking.

If there is no Kernel and no Shell the coding goes something like this

If there is no kernel and no shell how do you interact with the system? The definition for an OS without a kernel or shell is firmware - but even this has a kernel - why do you want this?

kernel is Core of an OS, without it, there isn't any OS. What do you mean without a shell?
ps: Why do you search such thing? If you want to replace your krnel, then you can use Linux.

Hello!
I have some headache of testing my asp. based web pages in my local computer because of emailing is requiring a server. Is there a way to set up a simultaneous server (I send emails to myself) for testing purposes without getting connected to internet.

Install "Internet Information Services (IIS)". It's Windows XP component. I don't know how to use it, but smpt services are includet.

I have WindowsXP Professional 2002 installe my system, I am facing the problem like My saart meny bar is missing very often and if I restart machine only I will able to get back.
But I can able to view applications by Alt + Tab button.
Can any body give solution for this,

Do you get any error when your menu "Start" is not visiblity??? If so what kind of error you get?

Only problem is I am not able to see the Start Menu task bar..So I am not able to click Start menu with mouse or selecting any other items on task bar.
By pressing windows button or Ctrl + Esc or Alt + Tab I can able to work.

Do you have autohide enabled? You can check by hovering your mouse cursor a few pixels from the bottom of the screen. IF so it'll pop up after a few seconds.
