A XML parser is "not" going to convert any non-XML format into XML. MSWord can export doc and rtf to WordML, I don't know if it will also export "TXT" to WordML. See Google results[^]

hi i have a problem but could not find its solutions i hope you people can help me,
i am fetching data from SQL2000 using XMLSQL so now data is in XML format and then i am accessing that data through XSLT and displaying into a web page in HTML table format and now i want to Export that selected info [that is in HTML table format] in Excel file. how can i do that.
note: i dont want to export the whole info that comes directly from the Query i want to do some manipulation on resulted query data and then want to export new info into Excel file.

Heres a sample XML document:

If i get the count of childnodes of the node <name>, using the following statement: xmlNamenode.Childnodes.count, it returns 6 (i.e) it also includes the comments as a child node. Is there any way to directly get the count of number of elemets (excluding comment nodes) instead of alll the childnodes?

I am using XmlTextWriter in a function to create a Document element. The function returns e.g. the following:
<Document>
<UserID>ID blah blah</UserID>
</Document>
Now I call this function once for each document inside another method that creates one single XML message containing all <Document> elements. I would like to know how I can insert the text returned from the Document function into the XML message, and keep the correct indenting, as happens when I call WriteElementString.

Would it be an option to pass an XmlTextWriter into the method that writes the document element, so in the method that creates the overall xml message you instanciate one XmlTextWriter and pass it to the method together with each document.?

We are trying to enforce a couple of business constrainrs with XPATH .
A sample xml node is as follows:
.....
.....
<event>
<element>IE</element>
<elementtype>browser</elementtype>
<eventtype>Navigate</eventtype>
<value>http://www.....com/</value>
</event>
.......
.......
If we need to ensure that the XML has ATLEAST one 'element' node containing text as "IE" we do:
<xsl:template match="element[count(IE) < 1]" >
<xsl:text>ERROR: Atleast one IE element needed</xsl:text>
</xsl:template>
But we need to ensure that ATLEAST one of the IE 'event' nodes has a combination of 'element' as IE and 'value' node containing the text "Logout" i.e.
<event>
<element>IE</element>
<elementtype>....</elementtype>
<eventtype>Navigate</eventtype>
<value>...Logout...</value>
</event>
How do we enforce this occuurrence constraint through template?

Hello!
I'm trying to use an XSL stylesheet to transform an XML document into a CSV file. This works
quite fine, except one problem: XSL outputs an XML header:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
"Item 1","Sub-Item 1.1","SubItem 1.2"
"Item 2","Sub-Item 2.1","SubItem 2.2"
"Item 3","Sub-Item 3.1","SubItem 3.2"
"Item 4","Sub-Item 4.1","SubItem 4.2"
Is there any XSL command that prevents the output of the first line?

I have a method that takes two XmlElement objects. I want to find out if the XmlSchemaSet I have a reference to allows the first element to be a child of the second element.
What's the best way to do queary a schema to find out if an element type can be a valid child of another element type?

First, you need a development environment with Visual Studio .Net.
Second, you need to decide which language you would like to learn first. Once you get that figured out, you need to get some books. Check Amazon.com for books on your desired topic and be sure to read the customer reviews.
As for C# and the .Net Framework, I highly recommend two books:
Microsoft Visual C# Step by Step - this is an excellent book for learning the C# language.
CLR via C# - This is quite possibly the best technical book I've ever read and is an absolute requirement for anyone who wants to develop .net applications.
Also, if you want people to reply to your questions, it is best to pay close attention to the forum you are posting in and keep your questions to the specified topic. This forum is for XML/XSL related questions.
