I have the same problem (1024x768 laptop screen). If you use Firefox, i can hook you up with a little GreaseMonkey script that'll move that ad-bar to the left side of the page (so you don't have to scroll past it).

Take Shog's suggestion. I had the same problem with the Google Desktop on the right and his little tweak tweaked it good.

Pfft, I did something about it, I have a ton of windows open at work and need to just see the forums. So I added my own CSS to IE and now only see the main portion of the forums.

I log in, click on the article (http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/smartstartmenu.asp), click on 'modify', and I get 1 of 3 that allows me to add uploads. Does not seem to matter if I add any paths or not... I click next and my browser spins forever. Is this an on going issue or something I need to fix on my system here? Thanks! -Shaun

Sounds like you're stuck on a dodgy server. I just tried editing and it worked fine for me so my only suggestion is to close the browser and reopen the article.

I rebooted and same thing. I tried another machine and got the same thing.

I tried IE and Firefox. I even cleared tha caches. Still the same problem.

First off, the [Message Removed] feature is a brilliant idea. But If a message is marked as spam or inappropriate, and there are no replies , then the message should be sent to hell for burning. It must be tossed off the boards right away. This way, regular CPians will be encouraged more toward marking such messages as inappropriate (spam/abuse) rather than replying to such trolls. Trolls will vanish, making the board a better place.

1. I feel they serve as a warning to others.
2. You can't reply to them after they are spam.

I totally agree with what you say. But I am not bragging, the board looks terrible with plenty of [Message Removed] entries, a few of them with replies too which makes it even uglier. My suggestion is to eliminate the spammers and their *belongings* completely, mercilessly, then and there.

Sounds like what King Edward of England did to Wallace's body to warn people who were plotting against his authority. He quartered it and placed bits of it all over his kingdom. It had the opposite effect.

Spammers might get happy just to make the forum look ugly by posting many spams. If the message is deleted and gone, they would be feel helpless and would not try again after seeing the message disappear completely.

In Firefox: Hit reply on any message, enter some text, try to close the tab, and you'll get that error message.
