My host moved my site to another machine last night. I guess they took a snapshot of it before I had finished developing the guestbook. If you've been getting a page with just my name on it, that's why. It should be fixed now.

Two suggestions:
1. I was able to enter "garbage" characters in the name fields. It might be possible to enter sequences that cause application or database problems. You may want to filter fields for legitimate entries only (and no profanity).
2. It would be nice if guest email addresses were blind. Otherwise spammers can get them.

Tried a few things, but could not find anything really harmful (on the server side). Seems like you could put html commands in the URL field, however..

I'm releasing a new product, 1ClickPicGrabber, in a few days, and would like some input (and testing of course!) from my fellow CPians. Grab the pre-release installer here[^]. (Product page here[^])
Purpose of the product:
1ClickPicGrabber installs a toolbar extension in IE. The toolbar has a Grab button, which when clicked, collects the URLs of all pictures on the page, all links to pictures, or links to movies, and sends them to the background downloader app. The downloader then downloads and organizes the grabbed files for you in your My Documents dir.
This is far and away better than existing grabbers. Most of them are standalone apps, which require you to copy & paste pages or URLs into them. With 1ClickPicGrabber, it's right there in IE and one click on the Grab button gets you started.
Requirements:
OS: 98, 98SE, Me, NT 4, 2000, XP
IE: 5.01+ and the Active Desktop shell (most features should work OK without the AD shell on NT 4, but this is not guaranteed or supported)

Free license for the best bug report. The demo linked above is a fully functioning version, but is limited to downloading 200 files, and will deactivate after that.

WOW, just what I have been looking for to download some pr0n  Will the downloader successfully download from all websites even if the pictures are linked via asp, eg www.web.com/getpic.asp?mypic.jpg ?
No, seriously I have had a need for this, although IE 6's save picture as... button is better than having to right click all the time.

The Grabber will not see those pictures, because it looks at extensions and .asp is not a picture file extension. However, if you click Grab->Grab a file from any URL, you can enter the complete URL and a filename to save the file as locally.
The only bug I'm aware of in downloading is that the background downlaoder doesn't send a HTTP_REFERER header, so sites that check the referrer will not serve the file. This is on the list of stuff to fix.
Bug reports by Sunday night (PDT, GMT -8) would be great.

Perhaps your downloader should attempt to download the content from .asp extensions also and only keep items that have the proper mime type. Can you analyze the content headers?
The other option is to parse the html and find the img tags?

Well here goes my 1st few:
- Background downloader stops downloading when close is pressed, it would be better to just hide this window .
- Multiple download threads.
- Resume capablitiy.
- The ability to follow links (up to x links, like a spider ,ie Teleport Pro) in the same "directory".
BTW I use IE 6 , XP SP1.
Else it works like a bomb (not a real bomb).

I personally hate programs that don't close when you click the close button (like, say, MSN Messenger). A "minimize to the tray" option is on the list for the next revision, however, which will let you free up the Taskbar real estate and keep the app running.

This is already present, if you stop in the middle of a file, IE should resume the file using the already-downloaded cached portion.

Hi All,
I have been creating a project (on my own time) that manages the Snort IDS Tool. Unfortunately my time is so limited, I haven't been able to devote much time. Because I wanted to present this on CodeProject (as a CodeProject Application), it is time to ask for help. If there is anyone that is interested in really helping to in creating a CodeProject App. from resources at CP, let me know.
Now to tell you about the Project:
I decided to write a program to view the logs generated by Snort. I needed something that could view alerts/generate reports for Windows Versions of Snort (Linux in the future). I also had to come up with a name and since I was reading lines in the snort log file, I thought the name was obvious "Snort-Lines". Now that the name was born, it was time for the picture, it was obvious how this was going to turn out!
This Projects Goal is to create a "Pure" CodeProject app that Manages the Snort IDS Nodes in an Enterprize Network (or smaller if needed). My first shot at doing something was SnortLines. As I read the site name "Snort-Lines Management Console", it was obvious that this needed to be more than reading log files because there is much more to snort. There are some examples on the Snort-Lines Web Site.
My ideas have grown into a "Snort Management Console (SnortMC)" that one will be able to manage the Snort IDS Nodes in their network from on Management Console. Although the code is only half done, there are a lot of thoughts in how to do this. Some of the things I have finished is the Services that watch the IDS node directories on the SnortMC. When a file is modified in these directories, the service sends it (via TCP...encrypted) to the Node. There is an idea for a GUI (also Half done, but functional) to manage this.
There is more to talk about, but I think I need to know if someone is really interested in creating an app that the source code will be available to all as CodeProject.
