but.. still, for me it is not self explanatory. for example, if i select watch for the first post in Algorithms, in "MyCodeProject" section, it is showing up first five posts in that Algorithms forum.
and now, if i delete the fifth post, then i observed "Messages on your Watched Forums" link takes me to list.aspx.
i hope this feature is under construction.

I would love the ability to subscribe to an Author, for example, the prolific Marc Clifton. I've looked around the site and didn't find an obvious way to do it so I assume this feature is not present.
Receiving an email when the author posts a new article would be adequate but I would much prefer and RSS or Atom feed that I could add to my feed reader.

We have the ability to 'watch' an author, and in your 'My CodeProject' page see a list of the latest articles by your watched authors, but no RSS or email alert. Yet...

Very much true. The bottomline of the story is not to hurt them for lack of knowledge but the lack of interest or initiative to put honest efforts and a humble endeavor to think and come out and get started.

I'm unaware of any modern email client that actually allows javascript or ActiveX controls to be run. If the only way to make SpamAssassin happy is stop sending HTML based emails then I'm afraid SpamAssassin will have to stay grumpy.

I think it's mostly paranoid about images, since those can contain tracking links, and such.

I like it too. I do have two comments:
- sticky messages take votes but no replies; seems inconsistent to me.
- we now have three kinds of programming forums: those without stickies, those with "how to ask a question", and those with both "how to ask a qiestion" and "how to answer a question".
Three suggestions:
- threat all programming forums identically, with two stickies;
- make them all come from a single location, without copy&paste, so future changes appear everywhere;
- offer two buttons on the reply page, leading to a "how to ask" and "how to answer" text popup.

Done on purpose so that a Sticky at the top of a forum won't create a thread that takes 5 pages to wade through before you get to the interesting stuff.
Having the stickies come from a single location is an excellent idea but these are stop-gap measures. We'll be able to do something along those lines soon.

I knew that, however allowing votes seems wrong, since that is against the tradition you want to impose where 1-votes need explaining. To me, no reply means no 1-vote/2-vote, hence means no voting at all. If you only want 5-votes, then don't show the 1 to 4 digits!

I've already reported that allowing voting on administrative announcements doesn't make sense at any level. It doesn't matter if someone is pleased with it or not. They're just supposed to follow the points in the sticky to be here.

Every member can add sticky votes to their blogs so I've not removed the ability to vote on them. Yes, I could, just for non-blogs, but it's very low on the priority list.
