Can't vote as I already voted - Damn bugs.
In January I got about 30 votes more than the second fellow in C++ category and you know the auditing process gave prize to the second article - no offence, the second article is still good, but I felt a bit sad. And yes, I felt a bit anger, but just let it go and taught of never expecting any thing again from CP. I suppose the votes of CP MVPs are valued more than the other regulars and they have a say in the process.
As a consolation I got in Feb in the Mobile category which I never taught off.

Your Home Automation with Netduino and Kinect[^] is one of the best drafted article I have seen. Just don't let your spirits down by this. They will surely appreciate you. After all there are very nice people out there in CP.

CP MVPs have no say in the process. The auditing process looks to see if there has been suspicious voting patterns; you were probably unlucky there. Possibly several people from one organisation voted for you and this was deemed as being suspicious (I can't say whether or not this is true as I'm just an MVP and have no access to the voting logs). I can understand that you were upset, but you should probably have taken this up with the site admins at the time.

May be my colleagues, who have read it and appreciated it even before it got picked up for voting. Now why that should be a problem.
It's a bit strange.
Say if all my colleagues don't find my article worthy and finds the other guys article great and say if they have all voted for him, then for God's sake don't say that the guy's article will be kicked out as suspicious - is this fair ?

But the other article which got prize is one of my favorite for that month. So I just let it go and it wont make any sense at least to me to argue upon this. But to be frank I am a bit dejected

Yup, that is the way it should be. Only few admins should have access.
In spite of this, I still find CP as a great place and the best for sharing the knowledge. I am a great fan of how this site is run by Chris and other supporting staff. I am just addicted to it and I am happy to be so.

To answer the implicit question. There have been people, in the past, who created additional accounts just to vote for themselves. This is obviously unfair to people like yourself who let your articles stand on their own merits. The admins look to see if there are blocks of votes from newly created accounting the same IP address and remove them if there are. Unfortunately this can go wrong in the case we just looked at.

Hello!
I have a few questions in terms of my updated article:
Yesterday I submitted an update of this article[^] with new attachments.
Today (at 02:08, CET) I received the email that my latest changes have been approved.
But why the article status is "draft"? (But I can view the website without being logged in).
And why my article is not in the list "Latest Updates"?
And why highlighting of php is not supported?
And why sometimes I cannot (i.e. being redirected to an empty, white page, even "Browse Code" does not work) download my attachments except the one I did not touched (sporadically, reproduced with Firefox and Chrome)?
If you find spelling- or grammer-mistakes, please let me know, so that I can correct them (at least for me) - english is not my first language...

Thanks very much for your inquiries. I took a look at the status of your article and its possible you experienced a caching issue and the article is good standing. I have also just applied a change to your article and I can see it in the Latest updates. Please let me know if you also see it there as well. The change I applied was changing the language tag "php" to all your code blocks. We'll have to look into why it is not colorizing correctly - thanks for the catch.
As for the Browse Code, I've tried it in both FireFox and Chrome on two different servers and it seems to be working OK?

Now the article is as it should be - it is listed in the Latest updates and the attachments are working fine, too.
BTW: I had changed the language tags to "cs" as c-sharp is very similar to php in terms of syntax-highlighting...

Hello everyone,
I've used some <pre...> formatting features as described in Using PRE tags on Code Project. This worked fine until Smitha Vijayan changed it. All highlighting, background and foreground as described in Using PRE tags on Code Project got removed. I was counting in my tips to have these settings respected by the editors. It's a bit annoying that these changes get silently done - no email, no message - nothing.
Please have a look at the two versions:
What can I count on when writing an tip? Is the above mentioned article about formatting in the <pre...> respected by the editors too? I would very much appreciate...

I've spoken to Smitha and we'll restore the formatting. I haven't had a chance to look closely at both versions, but can I assume the latest version has updated content, but that you want the formatting to reflect what was in the previous version?

I don't get exactly your last question. If you ask what kind of formatting I was using that got removed, here are the ones:
- <pre lang="cs">...<span class='highlight'>...</span>...</pre>
- <pre lang="text" style="background: black; color: white;">...</pre>
some console output...
I know of the issues with too many formatting features applied, but I think the above is more helpful than the one below:
- <pre lang="cs">...<span class='highlight'>...</span>...</pre>

A couple of things.
1. When you post an article, you can include notes for editors. If you have none standard formatting that you want preserving you should set this.
2. Why did you name the editor? There was no need for that. It serves to make your post look vindictive.

Currently the pre tag lang is Javascript. Same issue with the pre tag cs.

There always have been some issues with the coloring as soon as string literals appear. I suspect too much Regex code has been used. What is it exactly you don't like?

That isn't valid C# code, either use @ or escape the backslash!
As a result the code following it got comment colored, and the strings are in black.

Correct. In the initial code sample the backslash was escaped. The trick is to use the @"C:\" variant.
