If debugging is the process of removing bugs, is programming the process of putting them in?
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

Nope, both of these are not concerned with any bug at all. Bug is something we don't like, and want to remove it.
You can say it like, if Google would get results of the stored password then it is a bug, otherwise Google knows everything and gives results to every query.

For project management, the process is actually called enbuggering (short for buggering engineering).

You're saying that it should be called con-gramming?

Not exactly - the bugs are there, you put code around (like the cheese with the hole in it...)
Skipper: We'll fix it.
Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

So you are saying that bugs are the basic unit of computing, without which you can't have applications?
I think this says a lot about your code quality! How much to not tell your boss?

I always tell my boss, that if I do not include some bugs in my code I will not have any job tomorrow

and to think I spent so much effort in my programming to avoid bugs and now you tell me that the Idea is to put them in, I wish people would make up their minds I can do that a lot quicker

I read somewhere that professionally written code has 1 bug every 10 lines, so I make a point of deliberately putting in 1 bug every 10 lines. It makes it much easier to find when debugging.

does that apply to VB jockeys? as the last time I debugged some VB code I think it was closer to 10 bugs per line

I always thought programming is the process of putting on weight?
GOTOs are a bit like wire coat hangers: they tend to breed in the darkness, such that where there once were few, eventually there are many, and the program's architecture collapses beneath them. (Fran Poretto)

Newbies Think Their Ideas Will Be Stolen
I think it is interesting that so many beginners who have a great idea for a piece of software or a book think that their idea will get stolen by someone.
Writing Apps: Giving Them Away
I've written a few apps that were for specific purposes and it's difficult to even give them away.
Well, you might think the apps were no good, but they were okay. It's all relative.
Anyways, now, I'm giving away a copy of my free book, Fiction Writing Gems (Kindle download)*[^] (until 12am PST 02/10/2015) and it is difficult to even give it away too.
*Previously published as Fiction Writer's Fire Starter
My Point?
My point, no reason to think your ideas are going to get stolen. You can't even give them away.

Yeah, I learned that lesson all too well... That's why I stopped charging for the first book in my series...

I just searched your name on amazon and found your book. I will have a read and let you know what I think.
Very good to find another person interested in writing here. Nice to see your books on Amazon.
Keep on learning, keep on writing.

Heh, thanks for the free promotion, guys...
Not sure why only the first two books show up under that link... Will have to look into that when I get home from work...
