Spam can be
- advertising a product in an inappropriate way
- "site - driving" - posting answers that consist of a link to your own blog or website

These can often be found getting posted as answers to posts that were already answered years ago.

Abuse of the site can include "trolling" - posting silly or non-answers or being rude to members. This can include mass downvoting of a specific members posts because they have upset you - ordinary members can't tell who is doing this but the site admin can
Abuse can also include plagiarism - this is posting information (e.g. an article or an answer) that is someone else's work.

has been already here due to plagiarism. He has created a new account and now is asking "how to do the layout of my web like in [Link]"

The question got nuked in moderation while I wrote this message, so I can't copy the content.

I think he is getting very close to the limits again...

He didn't ask the question, he's replying to it with a link to a paid for product with a free trial - I nuked the first two attempts in moderation together, then let the third through and replied giving him a polite warning before deleting the solution.
If it comes back - he's branching out into spam.

I'm guessing it's a "resume thing" - he wants something, anything to stick on it to make it look more impressive.

just by replying to some one with link. i was thinking my reply did not posted and then i replied second time with same content, then realized that Mr OriginalGriff deleted the link then i could understand such links are not acceptable..

There is also his 'roommate' account ; I wrote a message in moderators forum about it. Apparently he
mixed up both accounts at some point, a reply to one of his solutions clearly shows that the account has been renamed to hide the sock-puppetry.

I'm keeping an eye on that one as well - I'm just waiting for him to try the "sock puppet upvotes" abuse. It'll come, I'm pretty sure - he thinks he's clever, and that's not a good sign for him.

Guys, i am just 2 months old in code project and you guys are aware abt my previous account too,
today when i replied with to one of OP question with third party link, i noticed that it went to moderation state and it become par of discussion here, can some one help me what to be followed and what no to be while replying to OP. i was under impression that we have to help OP even by some links are useful, in this case it was one third party product.

i saw another reply on same question that someone pasted link of nuget packages but no one questioned on it. it not purposefully but not being aware of it. lets discuss.
