Generalizing, but yes.
Now, you celebrate that you survived a year, in the modern west with its free healthcare and no guns in the public? Did you celebrate, you survived, while you did not do anything at that day? Your MOM was in pain that day, yes; so celebrate her and the sacrifice she made.
Not you merely surviving in a world where it is forbidden to die.
SHE did the work, we slept like babies. Why the elephant do we celebrate surviving, instead of the pain and suffering that brought life? Isn't the birth an accomplishment of my mom, instead of me? I did nothing that I remember
Surviving is easy, as long as you can be taxed you cannot die. Causing another kid, that's a whole new disaster.

Who did the actual labor that day? I think we celebrate the wrong person here.
I do not celebrate me surviving a year. I should celebrate my mom. She suffered for it. She was in pain, not me. Why do we celebrate something I do not remember? What we should feast for, is that she did. It's her day, not mine.
That's not gloomy, but just honest.
