Sample code to monitor a ethernet network interface card status

I have some requirement of Monitoring Ethernet Network Interface Card Status (whether it is up or down)periodically through SNPM trap and present it to some graphical format.Can some body give me some idea how to write a program in C#. I am absolutely new to SNMP trap concept and require some sample code with comments. Can some body help me out in this with some sample code if available or give some reference.

What I have tried:

I have not tried yet but want to start and need some simple sample code initially.In net I have searched for codes but as a starter I need some sample.
