modifying an open source

Hi ,
I am looking to do a project in one of my courses in masters- networked applications and services.
I was interested in modifying some existing open source code.It would be preferable if the project would be related to networks.
please let me know if you have any ideas and the open source softwares ull think i could modify.
Any kind of help would be highly appreciated :-)

It's your project, you know your strengths, shouldn't you decide what/which open source you should work on?

I(surely others) am not sure what kind of help you are looking for by asking this question right now. Ediiting the question and elaborating might help more.

Contributing to ACE & TAO[^] will allow you to work with some of the most knowledgeable people in the business. It will probably be a great learning experience too :)
