Effects of changing form

This is for a school project.
So I don't currently like the way my GUI works and would like to make it nicer and was thinking about changing the single form to match what buttons they press. Eg. If they choose search by ISBN the form will go from the original choices which are ISBN and Title to containing a text box and the button to call the proper methods. With the ability to go back to the start to do another run through.
So what I am asking is that is this okay to do, or would this be a bad idea.

EDIT: Oh this would be done by creating new instances of the objects not through changing visibility.

I think that would be perfectly okay. So your UI would be context sensitive. It would be a little like the Office ribbon except that you apply it to the entire form.

Yeah, my previous UI used I think 3-4 forms and I just didn't like how I used that many for something as simple as the program is meant to do. I was just concerned that this might be something the is a bad practice or such.
