How long is a piece of string?

There are too many variables, just some of which are:

Font size
Font
Page margins
Headers + footers,
Printer margins

That is a very silly question!

The right answer is of course 42. 42 characters per page. Just take any random book from your bookshelf and count them. 42 it is. Definitely.
