So, I am trying to use the MSDN recipe for preview handler. I can get the program to build and register the .dll (as per the instructions), however, it will not generate a preview of the .recipe file.

Here is the link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd940374(v=vs.85).aspx#downloading[^]

Now, I am not getting any errors...but the recipe does not seem to work. Has anyone been able to get it to function?

I have received a message indicating successful registration of the handler. I have also tried to change build configurations, but cannot seem to generate a preview.

Thanks!

Look, software developers do not say "does not seem to work", they provide comprehensive issue report. What exactly happens?

my bad, I posted a more comprehensive question instead of improving this one...sorry, I realize that was poor word choice.

Did you restart windows explorer or reboot your machine after registration?

Yes, restarting and rebuilding worked. Thanks!

This was solved by using the correct registry value for 'AppId', which is given, for the sample to work on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. Everything functioned as described by MSDN.
