Hi guys
I am ASP.NET/C#.NET programmer and for some reasons i want to start learning PHP, i have some questions if any one can help:
first of all is does it matter if i try it in windows or linux and then do you know any good ebook or tutorial for me because i have experience in programming and i don't need to know what's a loop or if statment !LOL
and which platform should i use for programming ?and by the way what's cakePHP ?and what are the differences between cakephp and visual studio?(i know visual studio is for .NET)
i saw a php code and it confused me a little bit, unlike asp that there is a code behind and your write your algorithm in it with c# or vb.net ,in php code all functions are right in .php file!so there is not gonna be a code behind or some thing like that in php?for example what structures does php use for a three layer web site?

i appreciate your ideas and helps

there is something you MUST know that I'm positive that will affect any system you are using to program any web page:

If you work in Windows then file names ARE NOT case sensitive.

If you work in Linux, then filenames ARE case sensitive.

This gave me some days of labor when making my first page.

In my case I worked and developed the page in Windows and then uploaded it to a Linux server... :sigh:

PHP is really open, you put everything inside the PHP files, you don't need any other kind of file involved.

I would start using xampp or easyphp (if you work in Windows even I think they have their counterparts in Linux).

PS: http://www.php.net/[^] is a great resource. Plenty of examples are there...

Good luck.
